Five of the most impressive houses sold in Shropshire
Shropshire is a beautiful county in the West Midlands region of England. Bordering Wales, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire, Shropshire boasts many market towns and villages, along with vast areas of outstanding natural beauty and a rich and varied history. Shropshire is becoming increasingly popular amongst property buyers from all over the world, escaping to the English countryside.
Since our partner agent Nock Deighton opened their Estate Agency in 1831, they have had the pleasure of dealing with the sales of some stunning properties in this beautiful county. Here are five of the most impressive houses in Shropshire that have sold by Nock Deighton in recent years.
1. Ashford Court, Ashford Carbonel, Ludlow
In 2021 Nock Deighton’s Land and New Homes department were instructed on the sale of Ashford Court after Shropshire Council granted planning permission to convert the Grade II listed house into seventeen apartments .
Ashford Court was originally built in the 1780’s by Samuel Yate Sprott and unfortunately over the years it fell into disrepair.
The site, including the surrounding land, was purchased by a local developer. The apartments are due to be completed in 2022. We understand Nock Deighton has regular visits to the site.
2. Severn Brow, Oldbury Village, Bridgnorth
Oldbury is situated a little to the South-West of Bridgnorth; a little village planned in the middle of the 19th century and centres on the pretty church of St Nicholas.
Severn Brow is a magnificent Victorian period country home, set on an elevated plot enjoying views of the Severn Valley. The property was lovingly restored by the previous owners including a four oven Aga, lavish bath and shower rooms, and Neville Johnston library units.
The beautiful residence last sold in 2010.
3. The White House, Hilton
More recently, The White House came to the market as an outstanding equestrian home on the edge of Bridgnorth. The property boasts a detached annex, previously used as a holiday let.
The main attraction of the property is the Olympic size menage, alongside three stable blocks all of which are fully connected to electrics, accompanied with almost 6 acres of land.
The sale of the property completed in 2021, whereby the homeowners then let it out to a family and their horses.
4. Caynham Hill House, Caynham, Ludlow
Caynham Hill House is a country residence situated in Caynham, Ludlow. The country house sold in 2015 after undergoing significant improvements.
It is understood that the origins of Caynham Hill House date back to the late 17th Century and the extensions were added in the early 18th century, with a further wind added in the Victorian era and magnificent orangery built in 2005, providing extensive accommodation.
Numerous original features are still in evidence throughout the main house and there are beautiful country views from most of the elevations.
5. Tooley Towers, Bratton Road, Telford
Tooley Towers is a luxurious executive family home which last sold in 2015.
The property boasts five double bedrooms, all benefiting from en-suites, along with an annex apartment and triple garage.
The modern interiors offer a host of stylish features, including a feature staircase leading from the entrance hall, and views from the rear of the open countryside.
