ABTA, a leading travel advice and holiday information company has recently published this year’s guide to the Top Ten Destinations to Watch, featuring the UK for the first time.
Shropshire, described by ABTA as a rural gem, has featured in the prestigious list, including towns such as Ludlow, Ironbridge, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Bishops Castle and Church Stretton, all receiving a special mention.
Other destinations to be featured include Mauritius, Aruba and Crete.
ABTA recognised the prominent history of the county, noting it as the “birthplace of the industrial revolution” and proclaimed it as a “foodie(s) paradise”. Described as the perfect destination for sports and history lovers alike with “Much Wenlock being the site of the first attempt in 1850 to revive the Olympic games” and “Coalbrookdale in the Ironbridge Gorge with its elegant eponymous bridge, the first ever built in the world”.
With an abundance of natural beauty, outstanding architecture and a plethora of shops, restaurants and amenities, we understand why ABTA felt it apt to include Shropshire in this year’s lineup.
ABTA’s recent consumer research revealed 58% of people plan to take a UK holiday in 2024.
Various hotels, boutique B&B’s and private Airbnb’s are on offer for those looking to visit the area.
